Douglas McGill is a former staff reporter for The New York Times and London Bureau Chief for Bloomberg News. Since 2000 he has worked as a professor of journalism at the University of St. Thomas and Carleton College in Minnesota. In 2002 he founded McGill Report which publishes articles about refugee , immigration and human rights issues in Minnesota, and occasional essays about journalism practice and ethics. In 2005, National Public Radio dubbed him Glocal Man for writing about the global angles of Minnesota news, and the international angles of Minnesota news. In 2006 he published “Here: A Global Citizen’s Journey” that collects his global-local journalism. In addition to teaching, McGill runs a meditation center.
