Susie Linfield

Susie Linfield writes about culture and politics for a variety of publications, and she directs the Cultural Reporting and Criticism program at New York University. She serves on the editorial boards of Dissent and Photography and Culture, and is a member of the New York Institute of the Humanities. Linfield is also the author of “The Cruel Radiance: Photography and Political Violence” (University of Chicago Press, 2010).

Professor Linfield was a critic for the Los Angeles Times Book Review for six years. She has written for Washington Post Book World, the New Republic, Dissent, the Village Voice, the New Yorker, and Rolling Stone, among other publications.
